The Learning Group Pty Ltd ACN 657 388 988 (referred to as The Learning Group, we, us or our) is committed to ensuring fair and equitable policies and procedures are in place to assist students to learn.
The Learning Group may grant up to 50 scholarships per financial year under its “Scholarship” program to students who are experiencing financial or personal hardship. A Scholarship offers financial support to students who display passion, perseverance and commitment to study, and experience financial or personal hardship.
(a) Prospective candidates should ensure they meet all criteria before submitting their application.
(b) To be eligible you must:
(i) be an Australian citizen or hold an Australian permanent resident visa;
(ii) be at least 18 years old. Students who are over 16 years old but under 18 years old may apply for the Scholarship if they provide written parental/guardian consent;
(iii) meet the eligibility requirements to enrol in a course in accordance with our standard Terms and Conditions, which can be accessed here; and be experiencing financial hardship or personal hardship.
(c) Areas of hardship include:
(i) financial hardship – be receiving a means-tested Centrelink benefit or be able to demonstrate low personal or family taxable income;
(ii) rural, regional or remote home location (who have lived in such areas for at least five years);
(iii) recent refugee; or
(iv) other demonstrable hardship.
2.1 The Learning Group may grant up to 4-5 scholarships per month under its “Scholarship” program, being a total of 50 scholarships awarded per financial year.
2.2 Scholarships are open to students who wish to enroll in a course provided by The Learning Group.
2.3 The total amount of financial assistance per student will cover the full course cost of a course.
2.4 Scholarships are awarded in the form of tuition credit only, and not as an upfront/one off cash payment or as any other interpretation.
2.5 Scholarships will not be granted retroactively and must be applied for, and approved, prior to enrolling in a course with The Learning Group.
2.6 The grant of a scholarship is considered on a case by case basis and is entirely at the discretion of The Learning Group.
2.7 Scholarships are non-transferable, and may not be applied to any person, program or start date other than the one for which it was awarded.
2.8 Scholarship recipients must comply with our Terms and Conditions, which can be accessed here. Any scholarship recipients who fails to meet the terms of this policy or our Terms and Conditions, will forfeit their scholarship.
3.1 As part of the application process, you will be required to:
(a) prepare a cover letter; outlining the reasons why you would benefit from the Scholarship;
(b) complete the Scholarship Application form, which can be found here ; and
(c) provide supporting documentation.
3.2 Applications without required supporting documents listed above will not be assessed, so take the time to read our list and prepare/collect these documents.
3.3 The supporting documentation required includes:
(a) copy of a current Centrelink statement (or if payments have not yet been received, a copy of ‘Intent to Claim’ letter);
(b) copy of other person’s current Centrelink statement (if you rely on someone else’s income);
(c) copy of your Health Care Card;
(d) copy of other person’s Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with your name listed (if you are listed on someone else’s card);
(e) evidence of your personal income – current year’s tax assessment or payslips no older than three months; or
(f) evidence of someone else’s personal income (if you rely on someone else’s income) – current year’s tax assessment or payslips no older than three months.
3.4 If you’ve made specific claims in your application, we may ask you to provide other supporting documentation.
4.1 Applying for a scholarship isn’t just about meeting the eligibility criteria. It’s a good idea to think about why you want a scholarship, it’s your opportunity to stand out from the crowd and be recognised for where you’ve come from and where you need to go.
4.2 Remember it is quality, not quantity, which you need to provide. Aim to be concise and provide documents, which are current and relevant.
5.1 Steps
(a) Download and complete a Scholarship Application form from our website.
(b) Write your cover letter detailing why you would benefit from receiving the Learn for Life Scholarship.
(c) Collate your supporting documentation in accordance with this policy.
(d) Attach your supporting documents.
(e) Send a copy of the completed form, and your supporting documents to hello@thelearninggroup.com.au.
Applications are conditional on absolute confidentiality, regardless of whether they are approved or declined. The signed application form is binding on this condition. Any personal information (as defined under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)) provided under an application will be held confidentially and in accordance with the terms of our Privacy Policy, which can be accessed here.
5.2 What happens next?
(a) Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the details you provide and your supporting documentation.
(b) You’ll find out if you were successful usually within six weeks of the receipt of your application (Grant Date).
(c) To accept your scholarship, you must notify us in writing within 7 days of receipt of the Grant Date.
(d) Upon acceptance, we will enroll you in your chosen course and you can start learning.
